DirecTV’s 3D channel to broadcast MLB All-Star game
DirecTV will broadcast the first Major League All-Star game in 3D. The game will take place at Angels Stadium in Anaheim, California on Tuesday, July 13. The 3D broadcast will be found on DirecTV’s n3D channel (Ch. 103), the satco’s recently added dedicated 3D channel powered by Panasonic 3D technology.
The 3D broadcast will be produced by a separate FOX Sports production crew who will use nine 3D cameras placed throughout the stadium. Cameras will provide angles baseball fans are not used to seeing in 2D, which are designed to maximize the 3D effect.
“Though we’re still in the early innings of this amazing technology’s evolution, we continue to believe 3D, like HD, will fundamentally change the TV landscape…”
said DirecTV’s Derek Chang.
