Bangkok Post : Panasonic expects bulge in 3D TV sales
“We believe demand for 3D TVs will grow rapidly as consumers are now demanding better and more high-tech products. All brands are going to launch their 3D TVs and other audio/video products here soon,” said deputy managing director Toshihiro Majima.Panasonic launched its 3D Viera Plasma TV in May and followed with other home entertainment products with 3D technology such as a 3D Blu-ray player and 3D camcorder, which it dubbed the first of its kind in the world.The company is now ready to launch a full line of 3D products under the Step into 3D World concept. It projects to sell at least 4,000 3D products, mostly 3D plasma TVs, by the end of this year.Panasonic expects it will sell 32,000 3D plasma TVs in its next financial year starting from April 1, 2011, making it a market leader with a 30-40% share. The market is estimated to grow from 10,000 to 15,000 units this year to 80,000 or more in 2012.
