Note: This post originally ran after the Titanic 3D sneak preview on Valentines Day. Weve since updated it with the latest reactions from around the net. On Tuesday night, as a Valentines Day treat, Paramount hosted special advance screenings of the new 3D version of James Camerons Titanic. Although I have my issues with the idea of a money-grabbing re-release set to coincide with the disasters centennial this April not that it doesnt fit with 100 years of terrible exploitation, I did get to see a preview of footage from this 3D conversion last fall and as you might recall, I was genuinely “satisfied.” Im not a big enough fan of the movie overall to pay for and sit through the full-length experience this spring, but I wouldnt tell anyone to stay away. Unless you havent seen Pina yet, because thats the best 3D movie for your money and the Oscar-nominated doc is currently playing at theaters all over the U.S.!.

Not Too Bad: New Photos of Paul Bettany in the ‘Priest’ Movie « FirstShowing.net
Another post-apocalyptic Paul Bettany action movie? Yes indeed. But this doesn’t look too bad. SlashFilm recently debuted a great batch of new photos from Scott Stewart’s Priest, based on the TokyoPop manga, starring Paul Bettany as the titular “warrior” Priest. ScreenGems is obviously going to do a big push for this at Comic-Con next week, and this is a primer for that. But I like the photos, they’re kinda cool, they remind me of Road Warrior a bit, so I thought I’d post them. I’m not sure if this will turn out any good because it’s from the guy who just made Legion, also with Bettany. I guess he could surprise us the second time around?

Disney Sets Mars Needs Mom Release Date – MovieWeb.com
Disney has set a Mar. 11, 2011 release date for its live-action 3D film Mars Needs Moms, starring Seth Green, Dan Fogler and Joan Cusack.
According to Variety, the film tells the story of a young boy who gains a deeper appreciation for his mom after Martians kidnap her to the Red Planet.

“Avatar: Special Edition,” which includes an additional eight minutes of unseen footage, will be released in U.S. theaters on Aug. 27, marking the big-screen return of the top moneymaker in Hollywood history.
The film will only be screened in Digital 3D or IMAX 3D. Director and writer James Cameron, in a statement, said the expanded-edition revival of the film is a response to fan demand for another big-screen return to the jungle moon of Pandora.
“Audiences repeatedly told me they wanted more of Pandora and wished they could have stayed there longer,” Cameron said in the released statement. “So we’re making that possible. ‘Avatar: Special Edition’ will be exclusively in 3D and will have eight minutes of never before seen footage, including new creatures and action scenes. Whether you already love the movie, or you’ve never seen it, with this special edition, you’ll be seeing it like never before.”
The film will be released on a different date in some other countries.
